What is CFY Pinellas?
CFY Pinellas, also known as Clearwater for Youth, is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization that supports Pinellas County youth through educational scholarships, athletic grants, water safety programs, and youth development opportunities. CFY offers multiple scholarship pathways for Pinellas County high school seniors, including the Richard O. Jacobson Traditional Scholarship, the CFY/St. Petersburg College Scholarship, and the Vocational/Trade Scholarship sponsored by Duke Energy. Each scholarship is designed for a different postsecondary path.
Who is eligible to apply for a CFY scholarship?
Eligibility depends on the scholarship program, but CFY’s scholarship pages identify Pinellas County high school seniors from public or private high schools as eligible applicants. Students should apply to the program that matches their education path, such as college/university, St. Petersburg College, or a vocational/trade program.
Can students apply for more than one CFY scholarship?
No. Students may only apply for one CFY Scholarship Program. Submitting applications to more than one CFY scholarship program can disqualify the student from all programs.
What do CFY scholarships cover?
CFY scholarships help cover education-related costs. Depending on the scholarship, funds may support tuition, books, fees, room and board, certification costs, or equipment. The CFY/SPC Scholarship covers remaining tuition, books, and fees after other financial aid is applied.
What are CFY athletic grants?
CFY athletic grants provide funding to youth-serving organizations to help keep program fees affordable and expand access to youth athletics across Pinellas County. CFY states that its grant program accounts for nearly 75% of its community investment.
Who can apply for a CFY athletic grant?
CFY prioritizes Pinellas County youth athletic organizations, and some grant categories include specific eligibility requirements, such as serving students enrolled in Pinellas County Title I schools.
What is the Fred Fisher Water Safety Program?
The Fred Fisher Water Safety Program sponsored by Duke Energy provides water safety lessons for young students in Pinellas County Title I elementary schools.
